Lesson Procedure
I read the book, Feelings, by Aliki. We had a discussion regarding the various types of facial expressions people can have and why. We then discussed various playground scenarios and made expressions resembling a reaction to them. The children then went to their desks and wrote their names on their worksheets. I would say a scenario and the students would draw in the face above the appropriate facial expression for the scenario. For example, I said, "My friend told me that I could not play with her today because she was going to play with someone else at recess." The children then discussed what type of reaction they would have. They agreed on sad and drew a sad face in the box above the word sad.
