Materials
Lesson Procedure I. Story - Chrysanthemum by Kevin Henkes.

II. Display story
1. Examples of being positive from story.
2. Examples of being negative from story.

III. Display Sign - "Putting out someone else's light out doesn't make yours shine brighter."
1. Relate to story, Chrysanthemum.
2. Relate to daily class experiences.

IV. Activity - Support
1. Make collage (5 students work together). Goal is to practice that each member of team is valuable and appreciated. Each member of team is given 2 minutes to work to make collage adding on until all 5 participated.

2. Rules established before activity proceeds.
a) Put up/no put downs.
b) Freedom for individual to express self. Only positive comments can be offered to encourage each member of the team.

Goal: Beautiful Creation (10 minutes) that team is proud to share with all present.

V. Art Show
1. View all beautiful projects.
2. All teams present and talk about what they admire in their project.
3. Open to compliments at large. Each student talks about what they admired about work of others (a different team).
