Lesson Procedure -To start the lesson have the children sit in a circle, so they are able to all see each other.
-Ask them, "What would our class be like if we all looked alike?" (They answered, it would be boring. We would be playing only with ourselves.)
-Then ask them what makes us different. (Their answers were, We have different hair color, skin color, some of us are tall, some of us are short, some like to ride their bikes, play video games, do puzzles, look at books, watch television etc.)
-Then ask the children to draw on their little squares something that makes them different from any other child in the classroom.
-After they were done we placed them on the grid and displayed for everyone to see. They each proudly told the class what makes them different.

Comments/Instructor's Note I really liked doing this lesson with five year olds. They always have interesting answers. Maybe later in the year I could try it using school subjects.
